Vocal Media is Luring Me Back
What they offered after I canceled Vocal+ and deleted my stories
On July 13, 2021, after two months on Vocal Media, I withdrew my meager earnings and ended my plus membership. That same day, I also requested to delete one of my published stories. I was testing the waters, as I heard rumors that deleting stories was a painful process, if it was even possible. For my first attempt, it was quick. Sunny from Vocal responded the next day and confirmed the story was removed.
Great, now I can complete packing my bags. My plan was to move to Medium and not leave my stories unattended on Vocal. I filled up the Vocal online form to have 9 out of 11 of my stories deleted. The last two were entered in the Threading the Needle challenge, which was still ongoing, so I decided to keep them untouched for a bit longer.
Three days later, there was no response from Sunny. Ok, so maybe they were busy. I sent a follow-up email, still no reply. On July 20, I lost my patience and created another ticket through their online form.
That same day, I received a weird email from Vocal saying I got a $5.00 bonus for publishing my 5th story. I was surprised. I had eleven stories and I wasn’t writing anything new… I was trying to get out!
